GNS Japan K.K. was incorporated in Tokyo in 2021 as a Japanese corporation and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the GNS Group.

GNS Japan K.K. is engaged in activities to provide equipment and services for the treatment and management of radioactive waste to Japanese customers, while undertaking works related to licences (type certification and type designation) for the CASTOR® geo26JP (spent fuel transport and storage cask), for which an application was submitted to the Nuclear Regulation Authority in March 2021.

GNS Japan's Management comprises three members: CEO Motoi Mitanihara, CFO Lisa Kortas (Legal and Insurance Department at GNS), and CTO Tobias Fischer-Wasels (Cask Development at GNS).

The GNS Group holds a world-leading delivery record in the spent fuel cask segment, leveraging the CASTOR® series – the world's only casks featuring a cast iron body. We are also increasing orders in high-value-added decommissioning fields, such as pressure vessel dismantling, particularly in Germany and across Europe. We strive to introduce the experiences and know-how gained in Europe to Japan, contributing to the businesses of our Japanese customers.
